I started my career in mental health after a few years as a Samaritans volunteer. I worked with a range of mental health issues, from mild depression to those with a forensic mental health background. My next role was working at a drop-in center for those experiencing domestic abuse. I enjoyed the role enormously and was outraged at the injustice many of my clients faced. I worked as an IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor) and after a career break, went on to work as an ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor). I have spent the last 10 years working for a specialist sexual violence agency and worked with adults and children, before managing the ISVA team. I also work as an assessor for the ISVA Practitioner Diploma.
As a counsellor, I work with a range of issues but my specialist areas are sexual abuse, domestic abuse and narcissist abuse. Therapeutically, I have a keen interest in Attachment theory and Jungian psychology.
