I am an integrative counsellor, combining person-centred and psychodynamic approaches to offer both short-term and long-term counselling to adults and adolescents (16+). Based in Reading, Berkshire, I also provide sessions online or over the phone.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). With over 20 years of experience in the mental health and domestic/sexual abuse sectors, I have worked directly with clients, managed teams, and assessed diploma-level qualifications.
My background includes extensive work with both adults and children, offering practical and emotional support. I believe this foundation has greatly enhanced my ability to work therapeutically with clients, and I am deeply passionate about helping people navigate their challenges and find ways of coping.
Life can present us with unexpected and difficult challenges. Talking therapy provides a safe space to process and work through your feelings. I understand that beginning therapy may feel daunting, but I offer a space with empathy, open-mindedness, and understanding.
Our sessions will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and if you struggle to articulate your emotions, I can help uncover deeper feelings through creative methods. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is central to healing, so I work in a relaxed, down-to-earth, and warm manner, ensuring that trust is at the core of our work together.
I am interested in getting to know you—your past, what shaped you, and what is affecting you now.

"I got on very well with Clare. I was able to talk comfortably and freely about topics and issues that I have previously found embarrassing or shameful to talk about with people. The replies were always very reassuring and allowed me to explore the topics further."
"I got on well with Clare, felt comfortable enough to talk about everything I needed to and was always given the opportunity to bring anything to the sessions. She always gave the right responses and knew exactly what to say."
"My sessions were really helpful. I enjoyed them and looked forward to the next. Clare’s very understanding and helped me understand quite a lot about myself. "
"Overall, my counselling experience was very good. I felt safe talking about everything. Thank you for all of your help over the last few months! Wouldn’t change anything."
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on +44 78098 28617 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
